A Clear Vision for South Lanarkshire
South Lanarkshire Council’s current Council Plan, Connect, is built around a simple but ambitious vision: to improve the lives and prospects of everyone in South Lanarkshire. Importantly, that vision has been shaped by listening to the communities the Council serves. More than 3,300 residents contributed to the consultation that informed the current plan, alongside engagement with community groups and feedback gathered across the area.
That commitment to listening and evolving continues. Following a mid-term review, the Council reaffirmed its vision and values while recognising the changing environment within which local government operates. Its current focus includes transforming and redesigning services, responding to financial pressures, tackling poverty and preventing harm, with fairness and support for vulnerable people remaining central to its approach.
With the current plan running until March 2027, the Council is already engaging communities, businesses, employees and other stakeholders to help shape its priorities for 2027–2032.
It is a vision centred not simply on what the Council delivers, but on the difference those services can make to people and communities.
